This superb villa has been completed to a very high standard and offers luxury accommodation together with a private 10 x 5 m swimming pool set amongst a beautifully landscaped garden. There is also wheelchair access to the property for those visitors with limited mobility.
The villa was built using traditional methods. The stone used was local stone from the area, and from the land the villas stands on itself. Hence the varied colours and shades of the finished building. The stone is cut to size and then used to build the outer wall of the building. Small pieces of the stone are used to fill in the gaps between the larger stones. This method of building means that the building is better at remaining cooler in the summer whilst retaining the warmth in the cooler months. The overall finish is more in keeping with the traditional village stone buildings.
The spacious open plan ground floor consists of a living area furnished with comfortable sofas, coffee tables, satellite TV (limited channels), DVD player and CD/radio. The fully equipped solid wood kitchen, with granite work surface includes an electric double oven, electric hob, microwave dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. A washing machine and tumble dyer are situated in the integral garage. A reclaimed solid oak table and chairs comfortably seats 8.
An open hall area separates the living room and kitchen areas. Off this hallway lead the stairs to the 1st floor and a small set of steps leading down to the garage area. Also off the hall is a small hallway which leads to the downstairs shower room. This room has been designed with wheelchair users in mind and offers a ‘wet room’ style shower area and extra wide doorway. At the end of this hallway is the ground floor double bedroom. This bedroom has an external door that leads out onto a paved area of the garden.
The first floor consists of three bedrooms, all with balconies and stunning views of the surrounding countryside. One bedroom has a king-size bed with en-suite shower room. The other two bedrooms have twin beds and are also en-suite. One bedroom having a shower room, the other having a bath with overhead shower. All bedrooms are equipped with air conditioning and have ample storage/wardrobe space. All the bedroom windows have louver shutters.
Downstairs there are three sets of doors which open out onto a large covered veranda. This veranda is framed with beautiful stone arch ways through which the views beyond can be admired. Here are a table and chairs, a perfect setting in which to enjoy your breakfast or to sit on a warm evening sipping a glass of wine and watching the sun set over the Akamas peninsula. Steps and a gently sloping ramp lead down from this veranda to a lower paved area which surrounds the villa. From this paved area there is another set of steps that leads down to the pool area. The 10 x 5 m kidney shaped pool is set amongst a beautifully landscaped paved garden. Sun loungers and table and chairs provide the perfect environment in which to relax and enjoy the sun and stunning views
Area Description
Peristerona is a quiet, traditional, inland village just 10 minutes drive from the main town of Polis and approximately 35 minutes drive from Paphos town. The village is located approximately 410 metres above sea level and therefore enjoys the benefit of being slightly cooler in the very hot summer months. Villa Kitromilia, due to its position, enjoys refreshing breezes that blow down from the hills and help to cool the air on very hot days. It is believed that the village was founded during the Byzantine period. The name Peristerona implies a place where pigeons are reared. The village has a small supermarket, post office and two coffee shops. The area boasts many archaeological sites, dating to the prehistoric times. The village church is dedicated to St. Mamas and it possesses numerous old icons belonging to the older church which was of the 15th-16th century. The church is also the Cathedral of the suffrage Episcopal seat of Arsinoe which has been built next to it, where there is also a Byzantine museum containing many old icons and other religious items.
